      Brief Biodata of Dr. C S PRASAD, VICE CHANCELLOR, MAFSU, NAGPUR Brief Biodata of Dr. C S PRASAD, VICE CHANCELLOR, MAFSU, NAGPUR Dr C S Prasad, had his early education in Bangalore and after an Honours degree.He did his M.Sc.(Dairying, Animal Nutrition) and Ph.D (Animal Nutrition) from National Dairy Research Institute, Karnal.
      He started his research career in early 1978 as Scientist S-I at Indian Veterinary Research Institute, Izatnagar and subsequently at Bangalore campus as Senior Scientist. He then joined the Southern Regional Station of National Dairy Research Institute, Bangalore. Later he joined the newly established National Institute of Animal Nutrition and Physiology as Principal Scientist and Head, Animal Nutrition Division.
      Before joining Maharashtra Animal and Fishery Sciences University, Nagpur he was working as Assistant Director General (AN&P) at ICAR, New Delhi since 2007. His major contributions has been in the area of micronutrients and their bioavailability and has developed area-specific mineral mixture based on the deficiency in different agro-eco zones which has been widely acclaimed and received national award. He has also worked on Bypass protein requirement for cattle, improving the utilization of poor quality roughages and strategic supplementation of nutrients for enhancing productivity. He has been the recipient of CLFMA award, ICAR team research award (twice) and several best paper presentation awards by Indian Dairy Association and other societies. He has recently been conferred the Fellow of Animal Nutrition Association (FANA)and Fellow of Indian Dairy Association (FIOA). He has visited several foreign countries viz. U.K., The Netherlands, Australia, Sri Lanka, Bangkok, Vienna, Syria and USA. He also attended and presented a paper at Seoul, S. Korea on climate change and its impact and IAEA, Vienna. He was a part of the high power delegation to USA to discuss on Science and Technology related issues. Dr. Prasad, as experienced researcher has made significant contribution in the field of Animal Nutrition. He has published many research papers in Indian and Foreign journals peer reviewed journal and edited many books / manuals.
      He is a member of several professional societies and has attended many conferences / symposia. He is a life member of Animal Nutrition Society of India, Animal Nutrition Association, Indian Dairy Association, and Indian Society for Buffalo development and Alumni Association of NDRI.He has held several key positions in corporate life like Secretary, Vice Chairman, Chairman, Indian Dairy Association (South Zone), Vice President, Animal Nutrition Association, President, Alumni Association, NDRI, Bangalore and has been on the Editorial Board of several journals. He has excellent organizational skills and has organized many symposia / conferences / training courses and International Conferences as Chairman and Organizing Secretary. As ADG(ANP), he has been instrumental in guiding the research agenda of Animal Nutrition and Physiology under the National Agricultural Research System. He has also held additional responsibilities of ADG(PIM) and has taken leadership role in institutional building and policy issues.
