Dr. L .B. Sarkate,              M.V.Sc. & Ph.D. Professor and University Head                         Details....

 

Dr. Sarkate, graduated in 1977 and did his post graduation in the year 1979. Later he joint as Assistant professor of Surgery in the department of Surgery, College of Veterinary and Animal Sciences, Parbhani in the year 1979. He was promoted to the post of Associate Professor in 1986. He completed his Ph. D from IVRI, Izatnagar, in the 1989. Dr. Sarkate joined as a Professor of Surgery and Radiology, Bombay Veterinary College in the year 1996. He became University Head, Department of Surgery, MAFSU in the year 2002.

 

Specialization : Large animal surgery and Orthopaedic surgery.

 

Teaching experience:

 

	Dr. Sarkate is having a total of 26 years of teaching experience to U. G. and P.G. Student. He guided 18 P.G. Students as a major guide and he was member of advisory committee  for 43 student of different discipline.
	He developed total three U.G. manuals, three Audiovisual C.Ds and has a collection about 1,500 photographs for the development of teaching clinical material.
	In addition, he has also developed common course curriculum, common course wise lecture schedule and course wise question bank for U. G., P. G. and Ph D.
	He was internship co-ordinater for mare than six years where in he developed practical and informative teaching at various centers.

 

Publications:

 

Dr. Sarkate has published more than 25 scientific research papers  in National and international journals. He also presented 44 research papers in Apart from 44 papers in different seminars and conferences. He published 12 popular articles in Marathi and in various Magazines and papers.

 

Dr. Sarkate organized  Innovatively  26th Congress of ISVS in the year 2002 where in Live demonstration of endoscopy via video conferencing and new techniques of anaesthesia were demonstrated successfully for the first time in the history of Veterinary Surgery. Highest number of delegates participated in this congress from different states and abroad.

 

AWARDS AND SCHOLARSHIPS:

	Sr. I.C.A.R. fellowship during Ph. D (1986-89).
	‘Young Surgeon Award’ (1989).

	Fellow of I.S.V.S. (2003).
	Plaque of Honor (2000) in reorganization of meritorious services in the field of Veterinary profession.

Research contribution:

Dr. Sarkate has contributed in the following research:

 

	Use of horn plate for the repair of long bone fracture in cattle. Repair of long bone fracture using cost effective horn peg in cattle.
	Successful application of HDPE and LDPE moulds as a cost effective external fixation in the repair of fracture in cattle, sheep and goats.
	Repair of bilateral long bone fracture using walker and bone plating in dogs and cats.
	Successful management of venereal tumors using chemotherapy and surgery in canine.
	Development of balanced anaesthesia in Bovine, equine, canine and swine.
	Applied research on management of urinary calculi in canine.

Teaching Activities :

Dr. Sarkate has established Surgery Department at Veterinary College, Udgir being the first Incharge of the Department he was instrumental in setting up the facilities for U. G. teaching and practicals through development of anaesthesia laboratory (Boyle’s Apparatus etc.), clinics (operation theater) and Radiology Unit (500 mA X-ray machine).

He prepared the Ph.D. curriculum (course work) and started Ph. D. course in the department of surgery and radiology at Bombay Veterinary college. He shares a lion's share in developing better infrastructure facilities for the U.G. and P.G. teaching. He also developed seminar hall and departmental library for P. G faculty. recently he established endoscopic unit for diagnostic and research purpose. He initiated and completed preparation of Two Distance Education Courses, which were launched in collaboration with COL (Commonwealth of Learning), Canada and ISNAR (International Services for National Agricultural Research), The Netherlands. Third Distance education Couse on Feline Surgery has also been completed and is made available to the veterinary graduates/field surgeons.

 

Extension activities:

 

	Dr. Sarkate has done extraordinary work in the relief and treatment of injured animals following earthquake in Latur and Osmanabad.
	He attended more than 25 work camp and delivered several lectures at state level seminars.
	He has also organized five Gelding camps at Matheran and performed 100 gelding operations.
	He also helped Animal Husbandry Department of Dadara Nagar Havali and Silvasa for setting up stat of art Animal hospital and is providing honorary services in several health camps.
	He was the first to identify and felicitate the hard working veterinarians of Maharashtra State and awarded them with "Best Field Veterinary Surgeons Awards". Ten such awards were given during the 26th Annual Congress of ISVS (Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery).

Qualification : M.V. Sc.

Dr. Badgujar graguated in May 1981-82 and did his postgraduation in the year 1985-86. He joined as a Veterinary Officer on 3rd Aug. 1982. He became Associate Professor of Surgery on 11th Dec.1995.
 

Specialization : Radiologist and Anaesthesiologist
 

Teaching experience:

He is having in all total 23 yrs of teaching experience. He tought fild veterinariens and farmers along with P.G. and U.G.

 

Publications:  He published total 10 scitific papers in reputed journals and presented total 20 papers in different seminars and conferances
He attended total 10 annual congress, seminars and conferences. He has guided total six student as a major adviser and near about 12 students as a minor adviser.
 

AWARDS AND achivements

 

	DR. Badgujar received young surgeon award in 1998 , conferred by Indian Society for Veterinary Surgery.
	Dr. Badgujar has worked as co- investigator , in the veterinary nuclear medicine center , during the project of establishment of the center in collaboration with Bhabha Atomic Research Centre , Govt. Of India.
	Dr. Badgujar, in collaboration with human Endoscopist , executed the live Demonstration of Endoscopic surgery in dog , as a Theme Session at the 26th Congress of ISVS ,in Bombay Veterinary College, Parel, Mumbai 12.

Area / Field of Scientific Research/ Interest:
Dr. Badgujar has special interest in the field of Imaging Techniques like  USG, MRI, C.T. Scan. He is keen in advancing the research in Orthopedic surgery, having mastered skills in the hip joint surgery especially Hip Displacia, in Dogs. He has deep ,interest in ophthalmic disorders and Surgery of pets.

DR. DINESH. UDDHAVRAO. LOKHANDE

 

Qualification : M. V. Sc.
Specialization : Orthopedic Surgery and Endoscopy

Teaching experience:

Dr. Lokhande has guided total four P. G. students of Department of Surgery and Radiology as a major guide and act as advisory member for total 11 students of Surgery and other departments.

He is having total 13 years of Teaching experience for U. G. students and 7 years of experience for P. G. students.
 

Publications:

He has published total 7 scientific papers in  reputed journals and presented total 26 papers in different seminars and conferences.

He is Author of chapter “Selection of Pet, Care and Management of New born”, in Pet-owner guideline Book “Care and Management of Pets”.
 

Awards and scholarships:

Dr. Lokhande was awarded I. C. A. R. Jr. fellowship in Veterinary Surgery in 1987-88
programme for Post graduation.

He was awarded as “Intas Distinguished Field Veterinary Surgeon Award” during 26th Annual
congress of I. S. V. S. on 9th Nov. 2002.

"Best Teacher Award" was received by him in 2003-04.

 

Recognized examiner and expert for M. V. Sc thesis evaluation in various university in India.

	Conducted research on Bone plates prepared from buffalo horn for internal fixation in tibial fracture in Calves.
	Study on lipid and lipid free Propofol anaesthesia in canines.

Dr. Adsul graguated in 1977 and did his post graduation in the year 1979. He joined as a Surgeon, Veterinary Polyclinic in 1990.

Completed research work on combination of anaesthetic under the title “Comparative evaluation of nembutol intraval sodium combination of both and ketamine hydrochloride anaesthesia in felines” during post graduate studies.

Activities –
Worked as additional house surgeon, from 1980 to 1990 and carried out many successful surgical interventions in large, small and wild animals.
