The Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board officially released the notification on February 20, 2026, for the recruitment of Assistant Section Officers in different departments and organizations, for a total number of 587 posts.

DSSSB ASO Notification 2026 

The DSSSB has released the notification for recruitment of ASO under the Services Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, and Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board. The window to apply online is available from February 24, 2026, 12:00 noon, whose due date is March 15, 2026, 11:59 pm.

Out of total vacancies, 115 are for Unreserved, 148 for Other Backward Class, 98 for Scheduled Caste, 43 for Scheduled Tribes, and 83 for Economically Weaker Section. The horizontal reservation is applicable; there are 24 vacancies for the PwBD category.

DSSSB ASO Eligibility Criteria 2026

You can apply for the DSSSB ASO Recruitment 2026 only if you meet the nationality, educational qualification, and age limit mentioned below.

  • Nationality: You are an Indian citizen, and you live in any territory or state of the country.
  • Educational Qualification: You have pursued a bachelor’s degree or equivalent from a recognized university or institution.
  • Age Limit: You must have turned at least 21 years old, and your age shouldn’t be above 30 years. The age relaxation is applicable for 3 years for OBC-NCL and 5 years for SC and ST, and there is an additional age relaxation for 10 years for PwBD. 

DSSSB ASO Application Fee 2026

If you want to apply for the DSSSB ASO Recruitment 2026, you should know that the application fee payment is mandatory only for male candidates belonging to UR, OBC, and EWS; the payable amount for these aspirants is only 100 rupees.

The application fee can be paid using a debit card, credit card, NET banking, or UPI. Note that it is non-refundable, which means after depositing it, you won’t get a refund under any circumstances.

DSSSB ASO Selection Process 2026

The selection process for the DSSSB Assistant Section Officer Recruitment 2026 consists of two stages, which are the Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams. The Delhi Subordinate Service Selection Board will prepare a final selection list based on the performance in Part 2 of the Tier 2 Exam. 

DSSSB ASO Exam Date 2026

The DSSSB hasn’t confirmed any date for the Tier 1 and Tier 2 exams for the post of ASO. It is highly expected that the Tier 1 Exam will be held in May or June 2026 and the Tier 2 Exam in October or November 2026. The actual dates will be announced by the DSSSB in due course. 

DSSSB ASO Tier-1 Exam Pattern 2026

The DSSSB will conduct Tier 1 in computer-based test mode with an exam time duration of 2 hours. There will be a total of 200 objective-type questions from the following subjects:

  • General Awareness
  • General Intelligence & Reasoning Ability
  • Arithmetical & Numerical Ability
  • Hindi Language & Comprehension
  • English Language & Comprehension

There will be 40 MCQs from each subject, each carrying a weightage of 1 mark. There is also a provision of negative marking; in case of an incorrect response, 0.25 marks will be deducted.

To solve all MCQs, you will get a time duration of 2 hours, and the medium of the written exam will be both English and Hindi.

DSSSB ASO Tier-2 Exam Pattern 2026

The DSSSB will conduct the Tier-2 Exam’s Part 1 and Part 2 in computer-based test mode. In the Tier 1 Exam, there will be a total of 200 MCQs of 1 mark each from the following sections:

  • General Awareness 
  • General Intelligence &
  • Reasoning ability 
  • Arithmetical & Numerical Ability 
  • English Language and Comprehension
  • Computer Proficiency

There will be 40 MCQs from each subject; negative marking of 0.25 marks is applicable, and the medium is bilingual: English and Hindi.

In Part 2 of the Tier 2 Exam, there will be 100 marks’ worth of questions from three different sections, which are as follows:

  • Essay / Expansion of Ideas (In English): 50 Marks
  • Letter/Application Writing (in English): 25 Marks
  • Precis Writing / Summarizing (In English): 25 marks

The total time duration for the Tier 2 Exam, including Part 1 and Part 2, will be 3 hours.

DSSSB ASO Salary 2026

As per the DSSSB’s Advt. No. 01/2026, the basic pay for the position of Assistant Section Officer is going to range from ₹44,900 to ₹142,400 under the 7th Central Pay Commission with the applicable Dearness Allowance, House Rent Allowance, and other benefits.

If getting appointed as ASO under the Services Department, Delhi Pollution Control Committee, or Delhi Urban Shelter Improvement Board, you will get ₹44,900 and DA, which is currently 60% of basic pay, and HRA with the applicable rate as per the Government of India.
