CBSE 12th Result 2026 Release Likely In April, Check The Passing Criteria & More

The Central Board of Secondary Education, New Delhi held the Class 12 examination for academic year 2025-26 from 17 February to 10 April. As the examination is successfully conducted, now the next crucial step is announcement of the result. 

Shortly after the examination conclusion, the answer sheet evaluation process began. Reports say that the answer sheets are already evaluated, the board is busy preparing the result, and they may announce it in late April 2026.

The CBSE class 12 examination 2026 result is all set to be available on the result portal at https://results.cbse.nic.in/. It will be available as a marksheet; pupils and their parents can check it with the roll number, school number, date of birth and admit card ID.

In this examination, a total of 18.59 lakh students took part. The result will decide the fate of all students. It is recommended to parents/students to be handy with the result checking credentials to check the result shortly after its availability on the website.

How to check the CBSE 12th Result 2026?

Students took part in CBSE class 12 examination or their parents can check the result following the instructions given below, once it is made public officially.

  • Navigate to the result portal of the Central Board of Secondary Education.
  • Click on ‘Senior Secondary School Examination (Class XII) Results 2026.’
  • Fill in School Number, Roll Number, Date Of Birth and Admit Card ID, and click on the Submit button.

Alternatively, students or parents can check the result through the Digilocker or Umang mobile application and website. 

Passing Criteria 

To pass the CBSE 12th class examination 2026, students need at least 33% score in each paper and as aggregate. It is mandatory to meet the minimum requirement separately in theory and practical for the subject with the practical component, failing to do so results in being declared unsuccessful.

There’s also a provision of grace marks for students who fail to meet the minimum passing criteria by 1-2 marks, the board gives grade marks and passes the students. Note that failing to meet the minimum requirement even in a single paper results in being declared unsuccessful in the whole examination.

Marksheet Distribution

The CBSE 12th Result to be available on the result will be a digital copy of the marksheet, students will get the physical ones from the admitted school within a few days after the result. The board will print a copy of the result and send it to school shortly after the result, and the school will distribute it.

The distribution usually begins within four to six hours after the result release. As the board is set to announce the result in April, students can anticipate getting the marksheet physical copy by mid-May. The digital and physical copies of the result carry the same details, but collecting the original is mandatory as it is proof of passing the examination.

Unsatisfied With Result?

Every year after the CBSE 12th class examination result many students are not satisfied with the result. In this case, they have two options: either to sit in the 2nd examination or apply for rechecking of answers. To act upon any one, the required fee payment is mandatory. 

The Central Board of Secondary Education may conduct the 2nd examination for Class 12 in May, it will help the students in improving their score in the subject they have secured less; but the rechecking form filing will take place within a few days after the result, which help the students to get the answer sheet rechecked for a certain paper.
