Nationality

• You must be an Indian citizen.
• You can be a resident of any state, but you will be able to avail the benefit of reservation only if you are a resident of Uttar Pradesh.

Educational Qualification 

• Assistant Environmental Engineer: You have pursued a bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering, chemical technology, civil engineering, or environmental engineering from a government-recognized institution.
• Assistant Scientific Officer:
  • You have completed a PhD in Chemistry, Zoology, Botany, or Biochemistry and have completed 3 years of experience in the field of Environmental Pollution Control or Public Health; or
  • You have pursued a master’s degree in chemistry, zoology, botany, or biochemistry and have 5 years of experience in the field of environmental pollution control or public health.

Age Limit 

• Your age shouldn’t be below 21 years or above 40 years as of July 1, 2025.
• The upper age relaxation is applicable for 5 years for SC, ST, and OBC candidates of the state.

Candidates from other states, irrespective of their region, will be considered as unreserved, i.e., in the general category. For this recruitment, the relevant document for claiming age relaxation should be issued by the local authority.

The selection process for recruitment of AEE and ASO under the UPPCB consists of two stages, which are a computer-based test and an interview. The details about each are discussed below.

Computer-based test 

It will be held for AEE and ASO most probably in April or May 2026 across the state; the exam pattern for both positions can be found below.

UPPCB Recruitment 2026 Pay Scale 

After getting appointed to an AEE or ASO position under the UPPCB, your salary will be as per the Level-10 Pay Matrix under the 7th Central Pay Commission. You will get the basic pay of ₹56,100 with additional benefits such as Dearness Allowance and House Rent Allowance.
