Students seeking admission for the MBBS (bachelor of medicine and bachelor of surgery) and BDS (bachelor of dental surgery) courses in the government/private medical and dental colleges of India for the academic year 2026-27 have registered to participate in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (Undergraduate) 2026.
More than 26 lakh candidates have applied to participate in the examination that is scheduled to be held on May 3, 2026, in a single shift from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. with a time duration of 3 hours. Applicants are now waiting for the release of the admit card (also referred to as the hall ticket), which is one of the crucial documents to get entry inside the examination hall.
Note that not a single aspirant is going to get the physical copy of the admit card by post; all candidates will have to download it from the official website and make a print copy on A4-size paper so they can carry it to their examination center with a photo identity card that can be their voter ID card, but the personal details on it must be identical to the details mentioned on the admit card.
The organization that is responsible for conducting the examination is the national testing agency, and they have officially confirmed that the admit card for the examination will be available for download from April 2026, and the link will remain active till the examination day. To get the digital copy of the hall ticket, one has to provide the login details, including application number and password.

Examination Day Guidelines
Students who are going to appear in the NEET UG 2026 examination are required to follow all the examination day guidelines that are discussed below.
- Candidates are required to report at the respective examination center at least before the gate closing time; applicants who will be late won’t be allowed to write in the examination.
- Inside the examination hall no electronic devices are allowed; if any candidate is caught with a calculator, a smartphone, a digital wristwatch, or something related, he or she will be barred from participating in the examination.
Examination Pattern
The NTA is all set to conduct the NEET UG 2026 in offline mode using the OMR sheet examination. A total of 180 objective questions are going to be asked from three different subjects. Out of the total questions, 45 are from each: physics and chemistry, and 90 are from biology, which includes botany and zoology.
Each question in the examination carries a weightage of 4 marks, and there is a provision of negative marking of ¼, which means 0.25 mark is going to be deducted for the incorrect response. The medium of the examination is said to be English or Hindi for the regional language of the respective state or union territory.
